Why does the patch appear after heavy rain?
Rain can enter through one defect and travel through masonry or timber before showing indoors. The visible patch may be some distance from the entry point.
Will waterproof paint solve penetrating damp?
Not while water is still getting in. The defect needs to be found and repaired before an internal finish is considered.
Can gutters cause damp inside a house?
Yes. A leaking or overflowing gutter can keep saturating the wall below it. Its condition and discharge route are part of a proper inspection.
